Shipping policy

1. Delivery Coverage & Service Routes

  • Local & Regional Deliveries: Orders fulfilled via our internal transport and 2-man delivery network operate across standard mainland UK service routes.

  • Out-of-Area & Remote Locations: Deliveries located North of Dundee, South of London, or outside our standard routing network may experience extended lead times.

  • Alternative Carrier Options: If we are unable to fulfill an order within a reasonable timeframe via our standard network, we reserve the right to offer a direct pallet transport service via a national carrier.

2. Address & Delivery Site Requirements

  • Permanent Addresses: All orders must be placed with a permanent, fixed residential or commercial business address.

  • Restricted Sites (Payment on Arrival): For security and logistics purposes, Payment on Arrival (POA) orders cannot be fulfilled to temporary or restricted locations, including holiday parks, caravan parks, campsites, or traveller sites. Orders destined for these locations require payment in full prior to dispatch. We reserve the right to decline or cancel Payment on Arrival orders directed to restricted sites.

3. Inspecting Your Delivery (Carrier & Pallet Deliveries)

Because our marble, glass, velvet, and heavy furniture items require careful handling, our specialist transport partners allocate a dedicated 20-minute inspection window upon driver arrival.

  • Visual Check: We strongly encourage customers to inspect outer packaging, crate condition, and primary surfaces (edges, table tops, frames) while the driver is present.

  • Noting Transit Issues: If any visible transit impact, crushed packaging, or surface damage is identified upon arrival, please ensure this is explicitly recorded directly on the carrier’s paper delivery sheet or electronic handheld device (e-PoD) before signing.

4. Post-Delivery Handling & Risk Transfer

  • Transfer of Risk: Risk of loss or physical damage to the goods transfers to the customer upon completed delivery and physical sign-off.

  • Customer Handling & Assembly: Large dining tables, glass, and natural stone items are heavy and require careful positioning. Any moving, lifting, room-to-room transit, or self-assembly conducted after driver departure is performed at the customer’s own risk. Starlight Distribution accepts no liability for fractures, chips, or handling damage occurring post-delivery during customer setup or movement.

  • Statutory Rights: Nothing in this policy limits or affects your statutory consumer rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 regarding inherent manufacturing defects or items that fail to conform to the contract at the time of delivery.
